Honouring Irene - celebrating 40 years of dedicated and loyal service

Irene has the biggest heart of anyone I know. She is not just an outstanding, caring and dedicated nurse but is a 'work mother' to all of us here at WVH. She cares for all of us as we go through life's trials and tribulations. That's not to say she doesn't have her own fair share of trials - she just chooses to put them aside when she's at work. She always gives of her best for her furry patients and their owners. She brings a smile and a positivity to the workplace that is priceless. Her readiness to help under any circumstances is so much appreciated.  We hope she will be with us for many more years.

From Steve

Nearly 20 years ago I stepped into Westville Veterinary Hospital as a young, enthusiastic, if a little naïve, vet. My favourite “Auntie”, Irene, took me under her wing, as she has the many others that came before and have come after. She was there the first time I got bitten really badly…helping me through the shock of it all and I will never forget her dipping my hand in the scalding hot water to disinfect the wound! Irene has the biggest heart I know and she wears it on her sleeve. She epitomises everything a nurse should be – kind, caring, and compassionate – many, many patients, their pet parents and staff have been privileged enough to fall under her care.

We have shared many laughs and many tears over the last 2 decades. 40 years is a phenomenal achievement that few can lay claim to, and Westville Veterinary Hospital has been truly Blessed to have you! Thank you for all that you are…we love you!"

P.S. You give the best hugs!

From Richard

Wow, 40 years at Westville Vet! What a milestone Irene! That already tells you a lot about the devotion of that person to a company. The fact that you are so well respected by all the staff members say a lot about your integrity. You always have the interest of company at heart as well as my interests that I am very grateful for. Westville Vet is part of you, and you are an integral part of the Westville Family. We are sometimes moulded by our workplace and circumstances, but you always kept your integrity and help transform Westville Vet to have a warm empathetic feeling where everybody can respect one another. Your empathy towards clients and their pets are unmatched and do not go unnoticed by clients and staff alike. Thank you for being a good listener with a sympathetic ear, taking the burden upon yourself and are always able to find an amicable solution for all.

Thank for being a friend. May the next chapter in your life always lead you down the sunlit path of providence.

To Irene –  ‘Mother Teresa’ of the veterinary industry.

Congratulations on a memorable achievement.

You have had a direct hand in giving hope to so many pet owners and equally important, gifted countless pets a second chance.

A great example of what it means to serve faithfully.
